The Broadway Street Show & Shine will be going on in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Rockin’ the Doghouse, in Houlton, Maine. Cars, motorcycles and hot-rods from all over the state will be showing off their power and beauty. Jon, event coordinator, wanted a flyer that would translate this to the public. To reduce cost, these flyers were designed in black and white.

The 2nd Annual Rockin’ the Doghouse Music Festival will be held on September 11, to benefit the Houlton Humane Society, in Aroostook County, Maine. Jon, festival coordinator, approached DbR to create a poster to advertise the event. After a candid discussion regarding last year’s posters, a distinct idea was conceived. This year it would be all attitude.

Who doesn’t occasionally need that extra set of helping hands? Miranda came to DbR with an idea for a logo and a style that would reach back into the past; into a time when a wife’s duties were based in the home. She understands that things are different now, and it is almost a necessity for women to be in the workforce; however, the desire to have a put-together home still exists. Miranda is the missing piece; available when time is not. DbR took a pencil sketch and created the Occasional Housewife logo. Miranda decided that she needed to get her idea out to potential clients, but a standard business card just wouldn’t do. Instead she chose a magnetic card which could be placed on the refrigerator for those household, cleaning, errand emergencies. Bookmarks are great for a number of uses, other than just to hold your place in a book. In this example, the design was created to hold a large number of important dates regarding a special little girls journey through her first surgery to build her new ears. Her family wanted an easy and handy way for people to know when and where they would be on specific dates. She also included scripture that was close to their hearts. I have had the honor of creating a few pieces for Bobbi’s Build an Ear fund-raisers. I wish them safe travels and a speedy recovery for Bobbi. A Consistent Look

A consistent image is vital, no matter how simple the look may seem. This particular client wanted a professional-looking, black and white business card with matching letterhead. She tossed around the idea of including an envelope as well, but didn’t know what size would be best. We compromised and created a mailing label that could be added to any size envelope or package. The three pieces together complement her new business and have set her off on the right foot.

Auto Machine Inc wanted a new card that would more accurately reflect their customer base and draw in more work. This was designed as a two sided card. The front contains the standard contact information as well as the ASE Certified logo. The back of the card lists some of Auto Machine’s services and experience.

I love designing back-lit displays. The added element of light and how it interacts with color and image is a challenge that has wonderful rewards. A completed back-lit for a trade show setup or store front has the potential to draw in many potential clients, with its high contrast and high visibility.
